The Open Technology Fund (OTF), an independent organization committed to advancing global Internet freedom and counteracting surveillance has awarded The Mobile Intelligence Alliance (MIA) with its Internet Freedom Fund (IFF) to support the development and launch of Mobile Surveillance Monitor, a multi-source geo-intelligence solution providing insights into repressive global surveillance activity targeting at-risk groups around the world.
With its technology partners, Mobile Surveillance Monitor processes threat intelligence data from leading NGO research, cybersecurity threat intelligence, and open source communities. It exposes threat actors and their targets via publicly-accessible dashboards, notifications, reports, and research tools to improve investigations into the sources of mobile privacy violations around the world.
Mobile Intelligence Alliance (MIA) is pleased to announce a multi-year collaboration agreement with The Citizen Lab, an interdisciplinary laboratory based at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto to research targeted surveillance from mobile networks.
Jointly, both organizations will work together to research, evaluate, and report on the real world impacts of current and future mobile network vulnerabilities to improve user and industry awareness.
