For years a smoke screen has hidden threat groups who exploit networks and phones for surveillance operations. Our mission is to provide operational intelligence to those who care about the security and privacy of their mobile existence.
Founded by former mobile security executive and whistleblower, The Mobile Intelligence Alliance is a US 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on reducing cyber threats to mobile users. We implement data-driven research, conduct forensic investigations, and produce intelligence to advance information privacy.
The following disclosures have been submitted to Department of Justice Counterintelligence Division, US Congress, US Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Communications Commission. Click on each section group to view summary details of each US Agency disclosure
Evidence of violations by publicly traded telecommunications companies engaged in deliberate and/or knowing participants in massive, illegal spying efforts conducted for the benefit of foreign intelligence agencies and hostile, for-hire, non-state actors.
Enclosures of evidence showing reports of detected domestic and foreign mobile telecommunications operators engaged in mobile signaling-based surveillance attacks targeting US mobile phones.
Included disclosures of over 6000 personally-identifiable device numbers (both phone numbers and International Mobile Subscriber Identifier or “IMSI” numbers), and details about the type and number of threat instances. This disclosure shows that Personally Identifiable Information (PII) for particular mobile subscribers have already had their privacy violated in a fashion that may violate the laws or regulations of the United States and/or other jurisdictions.
Includes exhibits describing communications with NSO Group to purchase confidential access to mobile network subscriber data globally. Given the extensive, credible public reporting on NSO Group’s complicity with repressive governments, including with Saudi Arabian intelligence before and during the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, this evidence may support allegations that NSO Group conspired to violate various U.S. and/or foreign laws.
Partnering with leading media organizations around the world, we find the best paths to serve in the public interest, providing a layer of transparency to an opaque industry.
This industry moves fast to meet our growing communication appetite with people and machines. We collaborate with leading experts to provide forward-looking intelligence and guidance.
MIA is a donor-funded nonprofit organization that depends on your support to continue our work to fight for solutions and policies that support innovation with security as a central element. Send us a message to find out how you can help.
